Andy, Robin and I (Stuart) took a trip down Rowten Pot on Kingsdale, figuring that if the weeks rain had been worse than expected, the eyehole route was always an option.  But due to a mid-read of the rigging guide, I'd only brought ropes suitable for Big Gully Route!  As it happened, the stream was low and the Big Gully Route was doable.  I offered to rig the entrance and at 10:35 we headed down

Robin tried to rig the Flyover Route but found it a challenge and came back up. With time pressing Andy and I chose not to attempt the bottom as Robin said he wouldn't be going down.  So not wanting to split up but with some time to spare, we all went for an explore along the Direct Route.  I quickly rigged the free-climb pitch to be safe as it looked bigger than it actually was, and we quickly got as far as Direct Route's first pitch proper.  We wern't planning to go on so turned around and made our way back up to the surface

Andy had reached the top first and while he was waiting for me and Robin he found what we thought was Rowten Cave.  We still had plenty of time before our callout cut-off so we went for an explore

We tried not to disturb this cave spider

Robin turned back quite soon, but Andy and I carried on through and within about 10 minutes found our way all the way through cave and we were on the surface. It's a nice little cave, very suitable for novices albeit a bit short (at least the bits we explored)

Once on the surface we walked back over to Rowten Pot to Robin and pulled up the bags

We managed to get back to the cars and changed just before a rain cloud passed over, dropping considerable amounts of water
